Genio Dance Group, led by Lian Ho and Sandra Hsueh, infuses Flamenco, modern, ballet, and theatrical elements to produce unique, fierce, and emotional live performances in Taiwan.
I met Sandra while I was working on the Huiyo project in Taiwan.
She invited me to photograph this special production, in which they collaborated with world-renowned Japanese Flamenco guitarist Tetsuo Yoshikawa and Taiwanese jazz violinist Wei-Jun Hunag.
My first attempt using high-speed 35mm film to capture a live performance piece.
Completely immersed in the emotional depth created by rhythmic hand clapping, feet stomping, dance, and guitar, it was as if I was given a time machine through the underwater world.
