Growing up in a big family, food has always served as one of the key ingredients that keeps my family happy and united. Ever since I was a kid, my dad would always cook for the entire family (family of 16) at our weekly gathering. For his 59th birthday, my sister and I surprised him by creating a website to pay a tribute to his love for food.

Inspiration

The idea of Papa Kao Kitchen came to me as I was going through all the videos and pictures that I took every time I came back home to San Diego from New York. He would always welcome me home with his signature dishes. As an immigrant family, his food not only offer us something soothing, familiar and nostalgic, but also remind us of our childhood memories and Taiwanese roots.
